Work Location
Reinvestment Fund is maintaining a 100% remote work environment through at least January 1, 2021 due to COVID. Hybrid and remote work options will continue to be available to staff in coordination with managers and consideration of the needs of each position. We have offices in Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Atlanta.

Position Description
Fundraising is critical to Reinvestment Fund’s ability to achieve our mission. Impact investments, grants, and donations help us innovate, take risks, lower costs for our borrowers, and provide grants to impactful community businesses and organizations. The Associate reports to the Director of Development and will write and project manage grant applications and other communications to private foundations, corporate funders, and government sources. The associate is also the primary point of contact for Reinvestment Fund’s individual impact investors and donors.

Job Duties:

Fundraising communications – 60%-70%
Ideal candidates will have a strong writing background and editorial mindset. We are looking for communicators who can create compelling narratives and visual presentations that convey the strength of our organization and impact of our work. The Associate will contribute to:

  • Grant proposals and LOIs (including creation of budget documents, timelines, logic models)
  • Emails, letters, and other updates to individual donors and investors
  • Slide deck presentations to prospective investors and funders
  • Borrower success stories
  • Brochures and website content
  • Annual report and newsletter stories

Investor relations/management – 20%-30%
The Associate is the face of the organization to our portfolio of 600 promissory note investors. These include individuals, religious institutions, financial institutions, nonprofits and other organizations whose impact investments are part of our core loan fund. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the annual investor communications calendar
  • Ensuring timely communications and responses to inquiries from prospective and current investors.
  • Correspondence with investors by phone, email, and mail
  • Helping to organize, set the agenda, and develop content for investor events, including webinars and online meetings, as well as in-person events once these are safe to resume
  • Supporting systems development and implementation, including CRM and integrations with other platforms.

Fundraising administration – 10%
The Associate will also provide administrative support for investor and fundraising processes. These include:

  • Proposal timeline management and submission
  • Database maintenance (grants and investors)
  • Donor acknowledgement letters
  • Generating reports on donors, investors, and other fundraising
  • Maintaining templates and document libraries

Skills & Qualifications

  • Project and Timeline Management: Ability to organize colleagues across departments to meet deadlines and complete projects efficiently and effectively. Manage multiple overlapping project timelines. Problem solving orientation and solution mindset.
  • Writing and Communications: Strong persuasive writing skills. Ability to edit and proofread with attention to grammar, accuracy, and consistency. Basic research skills and ability to use data and visualizations to augment written narrative. Background in grant writing or other fundraising preferred. Strong writers with transferable experience will be considered.
  • Systems Orientation: Comfort with using multiple database systems. Ability to input, manage, organize, or provide reports on Reinvestment Fund’s investors, customers, projects, or outcomes.
  • Mission: Demonstrated interest in or experience with one or more of Reinvestment Fund’s program areas including food systems, community development, sustainability, or education. Familiarity with financial analysis, lending, loan structuring a plus, or willingness to receive training on the job.
  • At least 5 years relevant experience preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office – Word, Excel, Powerpoint. Familiarity with Salesforce, Mailchimp, WordPress, or other CRM, email marketing, and website platforms a plus.
