Where do you go to school and what are you studying towards?
I am studying towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Science & Technology at Temple University.
What attracted you to Reinvestment Fund for an internship?
Reinvestment Fund is a non-profit organization that aims to assist other organizations in rehabilitating and improving communities. Their goal is truly inspirational and shows dedication in the importance of providing our best abilities in helping people. I admire Reinvestment Fund’s goal and want to become a part of something where I can help people to the best of my abilities with technology.
What are some of the things you will be working on for Reinvestment Fund during your internship? What do you hope to learn from your internship here?
I am assisting employees with troubleshooting their computers and mobile devices as well as working on some projects. One of the projects I am currently working on is implementing and testing our local git repository on our git server before presenting and demonstrating my findings to Policy and PolicyMap departments. Another one of my projects is trying to gather all necessary error information from Solarwinds into email notifications when systems are down or errors appear. During my internship at Reinvestment Fund, I hope to learn more about networks and security as well as improving my skills in coding/programming.
Share something interesting you have learned about Reinvestment Fund or the industry in your time here.
Within my first few weeks here at Reinvestment Fund, I noticed that everybody is open with creating an open-learning environment and happy with answering any questions of a curious mind. By being surrounded by motivated and skill-specialized people, I am encouraged to ask questions, seek guidance, research, and explore my answers with not just in my department, but all of the departments at Reinvestment Fund.
Is there anything else that you would like to share that we didn’t ask you?
I studied abroad over at University of St. Andrews in Scotland during Fall 2014. It was truly an fun and learning experience of being independent, managing time, and exploration!
