Where do you go to school and what are you studying towards?
I am currently attending Temple University and will be finishing this summer. I am studying towards a Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) with a focus in Management Information Systems (MIS).
What attracted you to Reinvestment Fund for a summer internship?
Last summer, I interned with a company much larger than Reinvestment Fund and this summer I was looking to get a feel for what it would be like to work for a smaller company. The location also played a factor. I wanted to get a chance to work in the city. Lastly, it is nice to know that the company you work for is directly improving the lives of those in need.
What are some of the things you will be working on for Reinvestment Fund during your internship? What do you hope to learn from your internship here?
I will be working on all sorts of projects here at Reinvestment Fund. My main job is to respond to any technical problems that our employees may be experiencing. In addition, I will be working on a platform called SolarWinds which is responsible for monitoring all the devices on our network.
Share something interesting you have learned about Reinvestment Fund or the industry in your time here.
The way in which Reinvestment Fund finances its business. From what I learned there are roughly 5 different ways that Reinvestment Fund makes money. I was aware of things such as grants and loans but I was not aware of the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). This act requires that the banks that do business in Philadelphia must invest a small portion of their revenue back into the city.
