Lending Intern

Where do you go to school and what are you studying towards?
I am currently a rising Junior at Duke University. I am studying Political Science, with a concentration in American Politics and Political Institutions. I also intend on minoring in Economics and German. After graduation I intend to enter the financial services industry in the area of Investment Banking. I am also strongly considering postponing those plans to pursue a commission through the Officer Candidate School for the Navy.

What attracted you to Reinvestment Fund for a summer internship?
I was attracted to Reinvestment Fund because I wanted to gain real world experience in the financial services industry. Reinvestment Fund has provided me an opportunity to immerse myself in a company of highly intelligent individuals who successfully work towards a greater good of community development. Using financial sophistication and commitment to aiding our borrowers, Reinvestment Fund has successfully bettered the lives of others who are not as fortunate, a facet of the company I find truly commendable.

What are some of the things you will be working on for Reinvestment Fund this summer?
Under the guidance of Caroline Rosch, I will be aiding the Lending department in monitoring loan collateral and overall portfolio management.

Share something interesting you have learned about Reinvestment Fund or the industry in your first few weeks here.
Something significant I have learned at Reinvestment Fund is just how much aid the people in underprivileged neighborhoods need. Through site visits and contact with our clients, I have seen the tangible difference our investments in these communities have made. There is something to be said for using finance to not benefit those who are wealthy, but rather to support those who are truly in need.

Anything you would like to add?
From the start of my internship, I have been engaged and learned something new every day. On top of that, it is rare to find a work environment where everyone is as welcoming and intelligent as the people at Reinvestment Fund. I am very thankful to have been selected for the internship program, and hope to contribute substantially to the long standing success of the company.
