PolicyMap Intern

Where do you go to school and what are you studying towards?

I am pursuing my master’s degree in City and Regional Planning at the Bloustein School at Rutgers with a concentration in Urban Informatics.

What attracted you to Reinvestment Fund for a summer internship?

PolicyMap’s B-Corporation status and focus on affecting nation-wide social change through increased access to data is what initially attracted me to the organization.

What are some of the things you will be working on for Reinvestment Fund during your internship? What do you hope to learn from your internship here?

My responsibilities include processing, validating, and submitting updates to current datasets using Access and Standard Query Language (SQL), researching (and hopefully adding!) new datasets for the site, and writing blog posts. I hope to become confident in SQL and data management during my time here, and strengthen my analytical skills through thoughtful blog posts.

Share something interesting you have learned about Reinvestment Fund or the industry in your time here.

I have been pleasantly surprised by the open exchange of information between could-be-competing companies. In the end, we are all trying to make a positive and lasting impact, and it’s important to recognize that we are stronger together.

Is there anything else that you would like to share that we didn’t ask you?

One of my proudest accomplishments is having perfected my homemade pasta recipe with fresh tomato sauce.
