Interns

Michelle Huang
PolicyMap Intern

Where do you go to school and what are you studying towards?
I will be attending the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Public Health in the fall of 2016 to pursue my Master’s in Public Health with a concentration in Health Behavior.

What attracted you to Reinvestment Fund for a summer internship?
The expertise that PolicyMap holds about a wealth of social data drew me to complete an internship here. I’m excited to be a part of an organization that focus on data and mapping as drivers of change in communities across the country.

What are some of the things you will be working on for Reinvestment Fund during your internship? What do you hope to learn from your internship here?
Some of my responsibilities include preparing datasets for release on PolicyMap by evaluating, collecting, processing, documenting, and validating data using Access, SQL, and ArcGIS; contributing to the blog; and testing the site for new features and data updates. I hope to develop my SQL and GIS skills as well as learn the best practice in data management.
