Policy Solutions Intern

Where do you go to school and what are you studying towards?
I am a rising senior at the University of Pennsylvania pursuing a degree in Urban Studies.

What attracted you to Reinvestment Fund for an internship?
PolicyMap drew me in, as did Ira Goldstein’s teaching at Penn, and I knew I’d like to learn and practice mapping, data analysis, and policy research. Reinvestment Fund is excellent in these efforts, and the team environment has been highly conducive to learning.

What are some of the things you will be working on for Reinvestment Fund during your internship? What do you hope to learn from your internship here?
I support Reinvestment Fund’s Market Value Analyses, impact assessments, and a variety of research projects related to food, education, and real estate. In this work, I continue to learn tools like GIS, SQL, and statistical analysis.

Share something interesting you have learned about Reinvestment Fund or the industry in your time here.
The collaborative team environment at Reinvestment Fund has enabled my learning more than could have been expected. The research conducted crosses so many disciplinary boundaries, generating insights for topics I had never been exposed to before. I also appreciate when I learn that a space I enjoy in Philadelphia was made possible by investments from Reinvestment Fund.

Is there anything else that you would like to share that we didn’t ask you?
I am originally from Southern California and grew up hiking and backpacking in the deserts and mountains. I’m an outdoor guide, avid runner, and hope to compete in trail racing in the future. Always open to new trail suggestions.
