Victor Morrow
Finance Intern

Where do you go to school and what are you studying towards?

I attend La Salle University where I am currently studying towards a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Business Systems and Analytics. This fall, I will be entering my senior year after which I plan to acquire an MBA at whichever graduate program I see as the best for me. I am also currently studying for the Certified Financial Analyst level 1 exam.

What attracted you to Reinvestment Fund for a summer internship?

Reinvestment Fund’s mission is the primary reason why I was drawn to this internship. Being a CDFI, Reinvestment Fund’s use of NMTCs and strategic investments to help better the Philadelphia community (by combining expertise, analysis and creative approaches to investing with a social purpose) really attracted me to the company since I grew up in Philadelphia and have always wanted to see it be improved and empowered.

What are some of the things you will be working on for Reinvestment Fund during your internship? What do you hope to learn from your internship here?

My main role here will be working within the Accounting/Finance Department and assisting with bank reconciliations, making journal entries, and other supporting tasks involved in the company’s daily operations. I am also looking forward to learning more about CDFIs.

Share something interesting you have learned about Reinvestment Fund or the industry in your time here.

Well, I came into Reinvestment Fund with little to no knowledge regarding CDFIs, NMTCs, etc., and during my time here I was given the opportunity to really gain a better understanding of the industry. Thanks to my time at Reinvestment Fund, I now have a sound understanding of how the industry works and see just how much the company and other CDFIs contribute to things such as infrastructure and community development in low-wealth areas of Philadelphia.
