Frank Fernandez

President & CEO

Frank Fernandez, President and CEO, leads a team of more than 100 highly skilled financial experts, research analysts, and other professionals at Reinvestment Fund, a national Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) committed to breaking down systemic financial barriers and growing inclusive local economies. Reinvestment Fund integrates data, policy, and strategic investments to strengthen neighborhoods, scale social enterprises, and build resilient communities.

Mr. Fernandez is widely recognized as an expert in community development, affordable housing, and economic revitalization. In his role, he guides Reinvestment Fund’s strategic direction, expands its lending and investment portfolios, and deepens partnerships with community stakeholders, philanthropic partners, and investors to unlock new opportunities for lasting change across the country. Prior to joining Reinvestment Fund in September 2026, he served as President and CEO of the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, where he managed significant asset growth and oversaw more than $235 million in annual grant-making to champion equity and shared prosperity.

Mr. Fernandez provides his expertise to many civic and philanthropic organizations, demonstrating a strong personal commitment to transforming lives and building the capacity of peer organizations and communities. His extensive leadership experience includes serving as Senior Vice President for The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, where he led the revitalization of Atlanta’s Westside, as well as holding executive roles at the Austin nonprofits Green Doors and PeopleFund. He currently serves on the board of Mission Investors Exchange and is an Aspen Institute Civil Society Fellow. His work has been widely honored, earning him the Austin Livable City Vision Award, the Austin Under 40 Nonprofit Leadership Award, and the Ernst and Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

A Florida native and son of Cuban immigrants, Mr. Fernandez began his career on Wall Street as a public sector financial analyst for Salomon Smith Barney, structuring over $1 billion in financial transactions. He holds an M.P.A. from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas as well as a B.A. in Philosophy from Harvard University. He is the proud father of two children and currently resides in Philadelphia.
