Jacob Kurtz

Program Manager, Early Childhood Education

Jacob Kurtz joined Reinvestment Fund in 2022 as a Program Analyst in Strategic Initiatives. Before this role, Jacob worked in the education sector, serving families and students in both Philadelphia and Detroit. Most recently, he worked as a Lower Elementary Montessori Guide with Detroit Public Schools Community District. Alongside his role as teacher, Jacob was involved in a variety of committee work for the school. These roles included working on managing COVID funding, increasing parent and student engagement and developing LGBTQIA+ inclusivity trainings for the school staff. One of his proudest achievements was establishing the first ever Pride Celebration for the school and seeing the way it impacted staff and students.

Jacob brings a wealth of experience in teaching, volunteerism, community development, and advocacy for children to receive a high-quality education, no matter where they live and who they are. He is a graduate from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA where he received a B.S. in Community Development. He also graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI where he received a M.A. in Educational Leadership and Policy and holds a Michigan Teaching License in K-5 General Education and K-8 English Language Arts.
